I have been putting money into one of the RESP company for over 15 years, and I am lucky that I could withdraw the amoung of my invest plus government grant, but not capital gain from investment. I know many people lost money when it is time to withdraw.
So thebest way for RESP is to open account in bank, get grant, and manage the money yourself. Never trust the RESP companies because you never know what happens after 15 years, they will find a way to keep your money and your are out of control.
Plus, do not contribute too early if your purpose is grant, 5-8 years before using the money to start contribution is ideal
